IPFM’s investment advisory service

As someone who already has investments, or is actively exploring this route, you will know that building up your savings in a bank or building society is a low risk way to increase your money. However, what you will also be aware of is that the opportunity for growth is limited. If interest rates offered by a bank or building society are lower than inflation, then the spending power of your money will not only not grow, but in fact be eroded over time.

By investing your savings instead there is the potential to generate far greater returns than you could achieve if you simply leave your funds in a deposit or savings account. One of the drawbacks to doing so though is that you are taking on greater risk as the returns are not guaranteed and the capital sum you invest could also be at risk. This is where our team of investment advisors and wealth planners come in. You’ve worked hard, let us guide you in creating a financially secure foundation upon which to build for the future.

When deciding how to invest your money the options available are virtually limitless. IPFM can help you make the right decisions from what’s available, we tailor our investment solutions to suit your individual needs, risk tolerance and capacity.

We will help you invest in a way that aligns with your goals, timeframe and comfort with risk, using a disciplined, long-term approach.

What does our investment process look like at IPFM?

Investing should be done purposefully and strategically. To achieve this we begin by building and understanding of:

  • Your personal circumstances, including your age, health, dependents and financial goals
  • What you want to achieve and when
  • When you need access to your money
  • Your tax position
  • How you feel about investment risk and your capacity for loss

From there, we design a strategy that balances growth potential with appropriate risk management.

Clear, Ongoing Guidance

Markets will rise and fall. Our role throughout the inevitable economic cycles is to help you:

  • Stay focused on long-term goals
  • Avoid emotional decision-making
  • Review and adapt your strategy when needed

We will always explain everything in plain English, with as little use of jargon as possible to give you the clarity you need to be confident.

What we do: creating an investment portfolio

We can then build a portfolio that is exactly right for you, which could consist of a variety of the following:

  • Collectives, a Collective Investment Scheme (CIS) is an arrangement whereby you as an investor are able to contribute to, and effectively ‘pool’ your assets within a fund which is professionally managed by an independent manager.
  • Investment Bonds, an investment product although treated as a single premium life insurance policy, there are two main types: onshore and offshore.
  • Investment Funds & Investment Trusts
  • ISAs, an Individual Savings Account which allows you to save a certain amount each year without paying tax on the income or dividends.
  • Junior ISAs, are Individual Savings Accounts for UK children under 18, allowing a certain amount to be be saved or invested each year tax free. The savings are locked until the child turns 18, at which point they become an adult ISA.
  • Equity Investments, shares in a public or private company.
  • Corporate Bonds, an investment product which by buying you lend a company that money until an agreed date in return for interest payments.
  • Income Bonds & Growth Bonds, fixed-term, lump-sum investments where income bonds pay out monthly interest for income, while growth bonds compound interest annually and pay it upon maturity.
  • Offshore Collectives, pooled investment structures located outside of the UK.
  • OEICs (open ended investment companies), UK-based funds that pool investor money to create diversified portfolios of stocks and securities.
  • Unit Trusts, an open-ended grouped investment product
  • Trusts, a type of fund, listed on the stock exchange, that lets you invest in different asset classes, regions and sectors.

Each of these has their own pros and cons, what is right for you will depend on a range of factors, which is why we take the time to get to know you so we can advise accordingly.

At IPFM, we pride ourselves on our personal service, and will endeavour to assist you in making the right investment choices, and of course will provide ongoing portfolio support and advice. If a bespoke, personal service is what you’re looking for – get in touch today.
